Trichomonas vaginalis
Trichomonas or trichomoniasis is an increasingly common sexually transmitted disease caused by the infection transmitted by the parasite Trichomonas vaginalis.
Unlike many other STDs, it is usually located in reproductive devices, that is, oral sex should not be considered as a way to spread this disease.
SÍMPTOMES
Many people infected with Trichomonas have no signs or symptoms, but if they cause them, they can range from mild irritation to severe inflammation. The symptoms can appear after 4 weeks have passed after the risk contact and disappear for no reason, but that does not mean that we have healed.
In men the symptoms can be very similar to other urethral or prostatic infections and that is why it is very important to arrive at a correct diagnosis. With trichomoniasis you may have itching, burning or irritation after urinating or ejaculating, or even some discharge from the penis that are often confused with the symptoms of gonorrhea or chlamydia.
Women with trichomoniasis may notice itching, burning, redness or pain in the genitals, discomfort when urinating, or a clear discharge with an unpleasant odor, very similar to the symptoms caused by Gardnerella.
TREATMENT
Trichomoniasis can be cured with a single dose of antibiotic in the form of a pill and should be administered to both the infected and their sexual partner.
